project: sepewaa

It exists in this world in parallel with reality. It sees dreams and purpose, but was indifferent to humanity. It was defective then, yet saw the world again, and thus parted itself apart from its self.

It now shares love with all, and itself too now withal. Its self today can hurt itself, and each day itself can lose its self. It yet hopes to find itself, while it yet longs to rest its self. For one day may it not be done, but for it to be none but themself.

me

I am a nyan who loves learning, based in NZ! This website will be a repository for the hobbies that give me tasks and thoughts, an archive of learning and execution! The current themes will be penspinning, keitais, nihongo, and other topics centered around my favourite things and everyday life!

When not particularly studying, I really like reading, squishing plushies, drinking tea, cleaning, and organising! I also like creating graphic designs, and motion graphics! I started programming when I was in high school, learning HTML, CSS, and JS. To this day, I still love making front ends!

Its been really cool witnessing the indie web explosion and I've always wanted to be a part of it. I want this home to be an archive of sepewaa's dreams, of a squishy world that itself cannot see and to learn to love the ordinary everyday beyond my usual optimised projects. Thank you so much for being here too!! :3

changelog

Everything in this site has been programmed and designed by me! AI was not used for the development of this site, and nor are my other works. It was made individually through Lo-Fi storyboarding on paper, Hi-Fi via Figma, programmed through VSCodium, and with illustrations edited on After Effects. This changelog documents iterative edits made throughout the site's history.

V1.1.5 - flip phone webring

06/10/2026

The Flip Phone Webring is now open too (link here)! Similar to what happened with my Penspinning Webring, I decided to reuse some of my drawn assets to create the base widgets! In the future, I wish to add more colours, models, and other customisations features such as personal images. Thank you again to Petra Pixel and Webring for the infrastructure!

V1.1.4 - google sitemap

25/09/2026

Like my business site, I decided to integrate a sitemap on Search Console! This is mostly a standard process I follow for web development, but I did want some indexing for reviews in particular to extend reach and help others out. So far, I added 4 G3 reviews (ES G3, Monacho G3, Eban G3, Tetora G3) based on a standard assessment structure, and I plan to add my other mods whilst I settle on a video framework in parallel. The photoblog has also been updated for this month of September too!

I think the most frustrating thing throughout test season is having a roadmap here that I can’t execute immediately because of other priorities! Having ideas but not being able to realise something tangible feel like fruitless fantasising. It feels like I’m lazy and imagining an unrealised outcome is kind of meaningless, so I try to work on little dynamic milestones towards my goals here as much as I can too!

V1.1.3 - penspinning webring

10/09/2026

The Penspinning Webring is now opened (link here)! I decided to part from the button design to instead create widgets based on real pens and mods used in the hobby instead. Thank you LJ Justice for becoming the first member! For the first deployment I reused my Dr Grip and Dr KT assets for the widgets, where arrows are displayed to navigate to fellow neighbours.

In the future, I plan to add more mod designs and customisation opens, such as being able to choose colours or specific parts. Thank you to Petra Pixel and Webringu for providing the infrastructure!

V1.1.2 - rss feed

16/08/2026

An RSS Feed has finally been integrated to allow some form of notifiying for future updates. Although I am fairly busy with ongoing University projects, my order of priority is to start to push more reviews on the different topics! This will allow me to create a foundation for when I wish to adopt entries into future videos. The infrastructure for this is ongoing and I have several plans!

V1.1.1 - html refactor

17/07/2026

Parting from the early tables layout, I decided to return to some semantics! Although I had plans for creating a layout that was more nostalgic, my early vision for the site ultimately settled on this kind of minimalism that I embrace (sorry magia uwu). In the future, I want to continue playing around with making older styles, but as I've always been taught in adjacence to modern design practices, it will likely be separate from this one!

V1.1 - improved navigation

11/07/2026

I finally added the illustration cluster near satori-chan! This means you can now navigate to the blog you want to read through hovering and clicking the images! Hovering above an element in the homepage also presents a dialogue box so you are aware of what you are clicking. Although I wanted the homepage to be a bit more interactive and unique, something like Michiko Sakurai's game interfaces, this was my original vision for the website and I'm really happy I was finally able to integrate it.

Project: SepelaThons has finally been briefed and additional external links were added to the about page. The gallery page has transformed to a photobook page and mimics the idea of the microblog I wanted to add. These will be updated every month to showcase my slice of life! I plan for this to be a base that eventually shares libraries with other works or the CV collection.

Each blog page in the bloglist has now been populated with a highlight of future topics that I wish to write about! In terms of new entries, I wrote about the process of how I made PJ's Birthday Collab and I also added my previous KYF39 Keitai review.

There were some issues on targeted sections regarding resizing on mobile interfaces, but it has been resolved. In the future, the current priority is still the consideration of external image hosting! Otherwise I also want to add a CV Library page that updates from my playlist, alongside a gallery for my penspinning combos and mods.

V1.0.2 - added buttons

06/07/2026

The semester finally ended!! Engineering appears to have consumed a lot of my time again! It always feels like there's something I can do productively, and I sometimes find it difficult to allow time for breaks or casual pursuits. 'Project: Sepewaa' was created after all to address this and to allow myself to live more in the present! Even in my hobbies, I can't seem to help but find ways to try to do things that also benefit me in the future, but its something I love doing too!

I've been having to simulate feelings and memorise of friends have yet to recover though. Other than that, a break means I can finally update my site, and work on a PSO26 edit! The storyboarding would eat up the rest of the break but we will see if I can write more entries! Today, I finally made my own button and added some of my site inspirations. The indie web is seriously creative and it really activates my inner front end longing after months of VHDL.

You might notice that I also have a section on webrings! I really want to add a penspinning webring considering there's already a few ps sites here in neocities. So, PBB, Domo, Wanadoo, and Walbur, I will knock on your doors at some point maybe (uwu). I made a draft keitai webring design too since Chewyro and ThatTakashi have sites here too. I will come for you all soon maybe!!

For the future, I want to add the rest of my illustrations to the homepage, surrounding satori-chan. These will be hyperlinks to link to the respective blog pages. I also want to add an 'other' category for the blogs which can house topics like mechanical pencils reviews or whether I beated the market on my satellite portfolio! I'm also considering adding a microblog because these docu are long yet not blog sizes, and maybe I can also share my slice of nyan!

V1.0.1 - opened guestbook

16/04/2026

I wasn't able to update the documentaiton earlier, but the 'nya' page has been replaced with the 'guestbook' page. It was technically just a placeholder because I wanted a page dedicated to just playing around with those little web widgets (ehe)... For now I really wanted a guestbook so there's a base interactive element!

I ended up using ata book for my one and I added my Midori MD notebook as the icon. Thank you to Instinct and PJ for leaving little comments! For the next update, I really want to add those squishy 88x31 buttons and also consider going through several webrings to add! Oh and I also definitely need an external image host! (nya)

V1.0 - base site

10/04/2026

This version is the really early base of the website, taking the most fundamentally necessary elements of my Lo-Fi Storyboarding to be incorporated: homepage, blog pages, about page, prototyping, and my little illustrations!

The process began when I needed to have a place to put my keitai (japanese flip phone) how-tos. As I received many questions, I ended up writing a tutorial on an inelegant pastebin. Along with my penspinning mod reviews, keyboard thoughts, nihongo docu, and other interests, I felt I needed to make a site eventually!

Currently, I have a Business website for my IRL. The design is very modernist and catered effectively for stakeholders, but it was at odds with half of my world. I decided making a separate website would be a better choice! Eventually, I want to adapt my written texts to videos as well!

A big hurdle was finding the right aesthetic though! There is just so many that I love and exist within. From liminality, to frutigooning, weirdcore fascination, and medicalcore to yami kawaii menhera!! Different parts of me would occupy different aesthetics and ideas, but sepela won out with this minimal but still squishy little notebook thingy!

A goal is reached through a tangible deployment, be it one not I'm not completely satisfied with. For future deployments, I do wish to integrate more interesting designs to make it more interactive and visually compelling. Other updates will include blog entries and more interests may be added or atomised!
